  • Do you remember Marchello's "Destiny" album, released by CBS at the tail end of the 80s? If you don't: don't worry, as it was a good album (4,5 out of 6 stars), but certainly not a classic one in the melodic rock genre. Gaining a lot of interest in the US thanks to airplay on MTV (I still remember the video of the power ballad "First Love", featuring Gina Gershon) and a fair amount of touring, CBS allowed the band to record a second album, but up to now it remained unrealeased, because the musical climate had drastically changed at the end of the 80s and the beginning of the 90s. Luckily we have a guy named Georg Siegl (from the AOR Heaven label), who believes the 2nd Marchello album is well enough to be released after all these years. And Georg is right as this follow-up to "Destiny" is at least as good. Peppi Marchello (father of lead vocalist & guitarist Gene Marchello and known from his own band The Good Rats) wrote a fair amount of the songs, but son Gene also had a hand in five of the fourteen songs on offer. Highlights include the title track "The Magic Comes Alive", the semi-ballads "Wall Of Paper" & "Dancers" and the straight rocker "Riot".
